Face it, this is a Softnyx game, so connection problems will be a given. So it's important that we address the issue so that we can do what we can to minimize the problems.
The most important issue to deal with is users not being able to connect to eachother (Players appearing with a ping of 999) Because obviously there would be many problems if users from certain teams could not to connect to users from their opponents.
As many of you already know, but some don't, there are several things that can be done to help solve these problems, though nothing can be 100% effective in all cases. But nonetheless it is important that players of the league do these potential fixes so that the game runs smoothly.
#1 Port Forwarding
If you use a router, forward the ports: 2300 to 2399 TCP/IP and UDP
For more information on how to do this, go to:
http://www.bungeholes.com/cpage-205.html
#2 Update router firmware
Again if you use a router, make sure your firmware is updated, this usually can be done right from router config, which usually can be accessed by putting in a routers config IP in your browser, but this IP differs from router to router. So if you don't know how to update it, and you're not having any problems, just don't worry about it.
#3 "Connection Fix"
I found a program a while ago that fixed a lot of my LAN problems, but it also helps people's connections as far as connecting to other users.
You can find out more at http://www.bungeholes.com/bhn/cpage-205.html
IF, you are worried about your connection speed not being up to par(Not just your ability to connect with people) do not check timestamps, it will reduce your bandwidth by a very minimal amount, but still something.
These 3 things aren't required to play in the league of course, but they are good things to try if you're having problems connecting to someone, so if that problem does arise, make sure these 3 things are done first before other methods of dealing with the issue are put into action.
And as a side note, these fixes typically do not fix high pings, they may help them slightly, but they mostly solve problems with connecting to users. _________________ Aude Sapere

There is also another solution to the ppl that have routers. The solution is to setup a static IP address, but don't forget to open the ports also(2300 to 2399 TCP/IP and UDP).
http://www.portforward.com/networking/staticip.htm
This helps to the ppl that have 999ms for others... _________________ @_@_@_@_@_@_@_@_@_@^2 |

If you experience the bug with other people in the league make sure you try these solutions before approaching the Admin Team. _________________

Actually, referring to connection issues, any idea on the possible solutions on player-to-player in-game problems such as:
Some players not being able to "see" other players. Ive encountered this several times. The temporary solution is to leave and rejoin the game, but sometimes that doesnt even work. Ive heard its a port issue, and thats the most logical assumption, but assumptions alone dont fix anything.
I actually had a bug where I could not see any hitx1 whatsoever with kuumei, and they could not tell if they were hitting me either. The only way we knew was if they "faded away" and the other player received a kill. This could be a potentially very bad issue, as it could possibly be mistaken for lag.
Also, what if the entire gameroom crashes? I mean the rules say just go back into the game, but there WILL be situations where lets say its tied and its the last round, and one team has an obvious advantage. What if all a sudden BOOM, the game crashes. Do we assume that when we come back into the game each team has its respective kills, or do we start the round over? That would be highly disadvantageous for the team that had the momentum.
Sorry if you see this post as pessimistic, but these things could, and do, happen from time to time and it would be better if they were spelled out now, rather than big fights and flamewars happening later. |

That would be one of the times where it would be nice to have an admin in a spectator spot. If something extreme like that happens the two teams (managers preferably if they are on) need to talk it out and see if they can reach a fair resolution. Most likely it would be restarting the game at the last known score. For example if its 2-4 and the game crashes on the 7th round the two teams would probably just replay round 7 from scratch and continue on with the match. If the crashes were all on one team it might call for everybody leaving the game in order to even the chaos points out.
In any case if the managers can't reach a compromise it will be time to ask one of the admins. THen we'll have to hear both sides of the story and make a decision. If it's an easy decision we can just make the call as soon as we hear about it. If it is something complex then we will have to discuss it and the match will have to be postponed and made up on another date. _________________

i mean desynch as in 2 players lose their connection mid game, its that wierd thing where u see the guy just standing there at spam but during the game u see everything they do, like u see ppl get grip get gripped by air, u see ppl they kill die and u get the kill message and u see ppl they hit fall down, but u cant see them. i never figured out how to solv that _________________

That goes both ways correct? So both players would be aware that they de-synched? _________________

yea, both would know, they wouldnt be able to hurt eachother either i think, i once had that happen with an enemy and the whole game we didnt do crap to eachother. and i got it with my ally b4, and since he couldnt see me, he screwed up many stungrip chances, far few and in between, it rarely happens but it might complicate things when it does. _________________

| Everytime its happened to me, the "invisible" enemy has never been able to see me. So yes, it goes both ways. However, what if in that situation (As unlikely as it might be) the 2 opponents who cant see each other are the last remaining players. There would be no possible way to defend the golem against each other nor any way to defeat the opponent. |

Does anybody know if rejoining the game fixes that problem or if it's permanent? _________________
