That would be calling a hispanic a mexican...

Hispanic. an American citizen or resident of Spanish or Latin-American descent.
Latino: A person of Hispanic, especially Latin-American, descent, often one living in the United States. See Usage Note at Hispanic.

HISPANIC derives from the mostly white Iberian Peninsula that includes Spain and Portugal (Spain and Portugal are located in Europe).
LATINO derives from the brown indigenous people of the Americas (Mexico, Cuba, Puerto Rico, Central America, and South America). Mexico, Cuba, Puerto Rico and most nations in Central and South Americas speak Spanish because they were once colonies of Spain.
You shoulda really put Hispanic/Latinos for spanish overall.
