Nope, it's your firmware, (though that wont fix a high ping) but it definitely will fix the 999/no players moving problem. Whenever you buy a router, you can almost be sure that it's firmware is outdated, even if its new, you have no idea how long that thing spent on the shelf, nor can you assume that a company would redesign its manufacturing process just to include updated firmware.
Anyway, if I remember correctly updating firmware on a linksys router is fairly easy, you either have to find the right file on their website, or theres an automatic update, I forgot which O.o but if you need help with it find me on aim/msn or something
