It hasn't been season 5 for the longest time. Season 5 ended quite recently. I don't know too much of the details since the planning that went into season 5 was quite minimal, but the interest it attracted didn't seem enough to give reason for another season. There was a looong gap between season 4 and 5 though.

I remember about 2 years ago, we tried to really kickstart the league again. I personally remember attempting to create a new format that would hopefully entice some interest and tweaking it with the other council members. We focused on two things, keeping it simple with less rules, and opening things up so that more people could participate (i.e. low levels).

Unfortunately it was a big waste of time. I believe we tried again, but instead of clan wars, we tested out a new format instead which was basically a set of small and fun events with prizes to entice participation. I did like this idea from Jowy, but too bad it failed too. Just this year, I believe Anthyny started this initiative once again. As I said before, it happened just this year and not without its drama, but I don't know, I didn't get the sense that it was a true clan war. It was like, it happened and who cares. :/

It seemed like after 2007, no one really cared about clan wars anymore save for very few clans. Simply not enough interest for even the League to exist. The only reason why the forums were able to remain popular late 2007-2009 was due to the fate of PlanetRakion. RL became the only place for players to start drama. R.org was a spamfest and its own fate affects no one.

It was fun while it lasted though. I was happy to be part of the original six who founded the League all those years ago and was able to witness some great skill and clans the first few seasons. The other 5 who founded the league with me have long since retired.

It's too bad we eroded to where we are now. Everybody nowadays only care about having the latest sets or the most powerful equips, enchant levels, and musketeer kings. Quite in line with the predictions I made years ago. After chronicling every single update in Rakion for the first few years and just witnessing things afterward, it was apparent even at the end of 2006, only about a year removed from open beta, that Softnyx was going to embrace capitalism and then corrupt it for their own advantage. And that the only players who would even put up with such horrible business practices were those that could afford the game. I don't know where my stats are, I sort of stopped documenting and keeping calculations after Softnyx, time and time again, would duck up the launcher for me, problems which lasted years on and off, and still is not resolved (which is why I've only gone on less than 5 times this entire year), but I do know this: Softnyx decided a long time ago that the number of people in their servers wasn't going to affect any of their plans (events/updates/etc.) at all. Their goal became this: squeezing as much cash per player as possible. For Softnyx, it seems better to have less players who spend big time, than a lot of players who on average don't spend as much. They must be giddy with joy with how they managed to increase this stat almost exponentially the past few years by doing less of what attracted players to the game in the first place.

All this explains why it is so rare to see a played from closed beta, or even 2005/2006 playing nowadays. The percentage of cash whores in Rakion is at an all-time high right now that it is ridiculous. My warrior is weak by today's standards, heck, it is weak by 2008's standards. I am, however, one of the rare few who manage to enjoy the game with minimal stats and you would probably even catch me in game on a monthly basis to this day if I could even get launcher/Rakion to work which is ridiculous (not too long ago, I saw someone complaining about this same problem in Rakion free boards, a person who was forced to quit for years and when they downloaded the game recently, they still got the same error. I probably would have quit for good if not for my resolve and love for the game. I want to quit on my own terms and not due to stupid obstacles spawned by dumb-dumb programming by Softnyx). I am not an advocate of account sharing, have expressed this many times when I was more vocal in the past, and was extremely happy when they put the new rule in place that banned it. But a little over a year ago, a nice person from Europe (!) let me test out his account, which is very likely just average by today's standards, but much more overpowered than wee little Falcon. I was stunned by the stark contrast between our accounts and how it seemed almost effortless to get kills and endure the hardships of battle. This really made me understand why clan wars died in popularity. Kids today find it more fascinating to see their overpowered king cells slay their foe without them even reaching for weapons that glow purple, then having stupid clan wars, or anything that doesn't involve slamming their chubby, Cheetos-stained fingers on 1-2-3, ctrl and/or w/o, really...

That pretty much sums it up, SubiPwner.

One of the things that really stood out to me was when they announced the removal of PU, and then introduced unlimited PU events shortly afterward. I know it isn't exactly lying per se, but they withheld info (that PU would still be purchasable) to gain profit which I thought was ridiculous. I can list so many things just as bad, perhaps worst, but that's a good and early example of Softnyx's self-destruction for me.

Imo, it would be cool if, similar to ladder, you had your own basic mode level. (except it didnt get reset)

idk, maybe make some gold rewards for hitting certain levels. special rank icons for basic mode levels...

Finally got Rakion to work today. Jeez, there is a lot less games/players than I remembered, and that was only 5-6 months ago. Managed to play a few golem games and it seems level really doesn't matter anymore... see level 20s with kings that own me badly. :/ Did not see a single SUNC game which was my favorite.

I guess I shall try ladder mode than...

Whenever I play rakion I always make a SU. Those are the best. I hate playing with cells.
