It is impossible for a family of four to live off of minimum wage. They are most likely not getting enough to eat and have to receive help from the government. Do you wonder why so many people in the streets have to resort to doing illegal things to get by with supporting their lives? No, its not that its really fun to do, but its cause they won't survive without stealing/dealing drugs etc. They are given with the option of going to jail in an attempt to support their family or dying. I think we all know which option is the one they'll take.

Poverty will always be there. As long as our economy has rich people, there will be the poor as well. If you took the resources of the entire world and allocated them equally, then everyone would have enough to survive. It is possible. But with people out there like Bill Gates and other million/billionaires, then that leaves less resources for other people, hence a problem with poverty.

Poverty is a very viscious cycle. I speak from experience here. My mother has no college education, and my father left when I was born and never paid child support. My mother lives with my cousins and they help support her. With her income, at 62 years old, she would never be able to support herself.

I consider myself lucky to be able to go to college.I was always told I was too poor to afford college, but I work my ass off and keep my grades up so I get scholarship, and the Government helps me out quite a bit too. Yes, when I'm done I'll have about 50 grand in loans to pay back, but I'll be able to escape this viscious cycle. Unfortunately, many people do not do so. They see the obstacles in front of them, and the mountain seems insurmountable. I'll admit, it still seems that way to me at times as well. But ya know what? I live without alot of things so that I can escape this cycle. Rakion is really the only money I spend for fun. I don't go see movies, I don't go out to eat, I eat wahtever food is the cheapest to buy. I don't own alot of chlothes (most of the shirts I have have a hole or two in them). You'd be surprised the things you can live with when you have not known any other way to live. And frankly, I would take this lifestyle any day over being rich. I may not have the resources to make myself feel financially comfortable all the time, but something about poverty really draws familys close together. There may be tension, but when someone needs help, they've got an entire family there to back them up.

So...hte point to that rant...rent and water and electric cost more than 75 bucks a month. My mother and my two cousins who live with her (all working and earning minimum wage) barely are able to keep their cars on the road to get to work and keep all the stuff paid. Thank God that the house was left to them by my grandmother when she died, and it's fully paid off, or they'd be up shit crick without a paddle.

ROFLMAO! almost every person in here said that they live with there parents/ family members and or roommates (wife or husband). i believe that you graduated college shelbster? i know its going to happen when you complete college, you have to pay off all that school which is a pain in the ass. i have a friend that has the exact same life style but his parents as a personal business and my friend didnt go to college, he went to the navy.

so im guessing im a loser if my parents love me so much that they dont want me to leave the house. if girls think im a loser because of that then there just a worthless skank only used for sex.

and no shit on the minimum wage. as i said, you got to have like 6 or more people in order just to make some money. like taking the bus or carpool?

As much as it is don't hate the person on what they believe in, does not imply correcting the false statements made.

First of all, Shelby's right, as there are proper imbalances to life, if one is rich, another will be poor. The only way to do that, and some of you will probrably not like it is the reduction of non-supportive jobs in America. Such being athletes mostly, paying them more than what they don't really owe. What they do doesn't help us but only keeps us in the same economic disaster that we are currently suffering.

Secondly, if it weren't for the moronic banks giving mortgages and loans to people who don't have the money to pay it off, we couldn't possibly be in a subprime disaster like this, history is repeating itself and it's only a matter of time before it finally collapses again for the second time in less than 100 years.

Third, theres nothing wrong with living with your parents, but when your at the age of an adult, you really need to move out, by than you should be old enough to do what you have to do and stop sucking off your parents money. And it's not a fact that your parents want you to stay, it's that most parents who only have one kid are subjected to be emotional when their kid grows up all of a sudden and is leaving them.
