You forget the Iraq war.
But of course, 30-something people die in a school shooting, it's huge.
3,000 troops die overseas, no one really cares.

2008?
Gee. I can't wait to get a new president. =]

lol liberals...you guys have congress. do something about it. then again 3000 troops die overseas so let's pull them out and create genocide in iraq ^^ presidential race should be interesting though..

Well, of course people care about 3000 soldiers dying. But signing up for the navy kinda expects you to have a chance to, as innocent as you are.

But, the shootings in the state with Virginia Tech and such, innocent people who didn't deserve to die, well got shot, and died.

Who knows, maybe one of them would've grown to be our next president, or the key to the cure to cancer and all of that.

Not if you signed up pre 9/11. You're stuck. You can't simply leave during war time.

Not starting an argument, dark. Just saying. 36, was it? People died. Catastrophe. 3,000 dying and still dying. The news are covering Britney Spears shaving her head. 0.o

I have to agree with Dark. I have recently talked to one of my friends who is getting sent to Iraq in January. He doesn't like the idea of having to put his life on the line when technically the war is over, but now we are there because of a humanitarian issue. We started the war, and we have a duty to finish it out. It's not about whether or not we should have gone in in the first place or not, thats in the past and cannot be changed. But to pull out now would leave the nation in shambles and it's people probably doomed. These men and women who signed up for the army, whether prior to 9/11 or not, knew that there was a risk in signing up. Some did it for money, others like my friend did it because they care a great deal about this nation, and are willing to risk their lives to protect it and what it stands for. Either way, they knew there was a chance that the nation would enter a war time, it happens farely often. And, my last thing to say, it's not a matter of whether or not we agree with having troops in iraq or not, but a matter of supporting those troops, letting them know that people back home are rooting for them rather than against them. That is the best thing anybody can do, rather than talk bad about being over there and making their sacrifice in vain.

Jeez, all I said was "you forgot the iraq war" just to bring up the importance of it this year in comparison to what else the media portrayed as important.

--

Happy New Year all.
For me, this is going to be the year that changes my life.
COLLEGE!
