I personally have a BC Rich Virgo Platinum, but if I were you (speaking to the person who originally inquired about what guitar they should get) I'd go with an Ibanez. Even cheap ibanez guitars pretty much kick ass. And to the Vai comment, hell yes. If you're willing to shell out $1700 get an ibanez Universe UV777. Thats a damn sexy guitar.
And so help me god if any musical noob argues guitars with me, you will feel my wrath. |

Only thing is, that was the original guitar I was going to get but my jackass friend bought it before I got it. Two weeks later he tells me "Omg,I shoulda just let you buy it. The thing is a piece of crap and it sounds like crap."
My Washburn, it's decent, never broke on me, I bought it for a cheap price, and it works.
